THE INDALO? The town’s women when finishing their houses white wall washing, would draw this symbol over the doors to keep away from their homes bad spells or storm. It is related to the cave paintings found in the “The signs cave” in Velez Blanco, of Mediterranean origin, and it is dated back to 2500 BC. Presently the Indalo is the symbol of the whole province of Almeria, its gracious ambassador and messenger of luck, for those that visit us as well, no doubt. Also, attracted by the magic and bewitchment of the town, a group of artists from the early sixties, came to settle in Mojácar and took the name of the Indalo Artist Group. Today the indalo is the symbol of all the province of Almería and gives luck and protection.
