MEDIEVAL MARKET
On Friday 12th June 2015 at12.00h. The Medieval Market, is located on the main square “Plaza Nueva” and Calle Glorieta. All kinds of handmade products are offered for sale by stallholders dressed in period costumes.
Apart from the grand spectacle, it is a great time to walk around our streets and enjoy the stunning views from the various lookout points of our unique Mediterranean village
HISTORICAL COMMEMORATIONS AND REPRESENTATIONS
FRIDAY 12th JUNE 2015
21.30h. Congregation of fusiliers at the “Centro de Usos Múltiples”
21.45h.Regrouping of the different troops at “La Fuente”.
The ceremonial handing over of the key to the town by the Moorish King to the Christian King.
22.30h. FUENTE.- The troops march to the sound of blunderbuss shots warning the
village of the presence of the hostile army near the city. The troops then enter the village, each accompanied by their own leader.
23.00h. VILLAGE.- The traditional “Pregón Proclamation” marking the beginning of the fiesta, followed by fireworks.
23.45h. VILLAGE.- Opening ceremony for the groups’ headquarters each presided over by their own leader and followed by parties, music and dancing until dawn.
SATURDAY 13th JUNE 2015
16:30h. Congregation of fusiliers at “Playa del Descargador”
18.00h. PLAYA DEL DESCARGADOR.
Horse parade and dressage event with blunderbuss shots from sea and land. Then comes the Medieval Tournament where the Moors and the Christian knights try to get the most scarves hung out by the ladies in order to win their favours.
Finally, the troops march towards the Parque Comercial.
22.00h.VILLAGE. Opening ceremony of the various headquarters, followed by the fiesta and more dancing until dawn.
SUNDAY 14th JUNE 2015
12.00h. BEACH. Concentration of Moors and Christians fusiliers all along the beachfront with lots of blunderbuss shots.
19.00h. VILLAGE. Impressive finale to the weekend as the Moors and Christians parade from the village to the Fuente. Full of pomp and ceremony, the proud participants are dressed in spectacular costumes whilstcarrying their weapons, all accompanied by numerous music bands.
