 | This area, to the east of the province in the municipality of Sorbas, is interesting for its geology , its landscapes, its flora, and particularly for its potential for pothologing. The waters of the river Aguas go through an extensive area of karst formations cutting deep cayons, caves and galleries which open into large halls with stalactites and stalagmites.
Examples include the cave of El Agua and Covadura, which are not to be missed. The unusual lightcoloured thyme is the most distinctive plant species whilst the mauremis leprosa and the spurthighed tortoises are among the unusual fauna to be found.
In order to visit it is necessary to hire a potholing guide or seek authorisation from the AMA. Without this permission it is prohibited to enter the caves | |
