AGROBIO : Insects who work for us
Agrobio is, nowadays, the first Spanish company to produce beneficial insects for farming. It was pioneer in the production of bumble bees nationwide, thus contributing, in a decisive way, to the use of pollinating insects in the Iberian Peninsula.
Agrobío is located in the nerve-center of the agricultural region of Almeria, within the municipal area of La Mojonera (Almeria). Its facilities take up an area of 15,000 square meters where the production center, warehouses, offices, lab and R & D +i department are located.
Nowadays, Agrobio has grown to currently become the leading company in the production of bumble bees nationwide, thus increasing its market share thanks to exports to other EU countries and countries of the southern shore of the Mediterranean.
UAL among the leaders of the research data
The University of Almería pointer participates in European project on research data. The Data Research Group, University of Almeria is part of AMIDST (Analysis of Massive Data Streams) project, funded by the European Union under the Seventh Framework Programme, with a budget of nearly 3 million.
In the project, and the University of Almería, involved the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Aalborg University, and is intended to give the company the necessary software tools to obtain useful information for decision-making from large volumes of data.
At company level, as major trading partners participating European companies which apply the results in this research will result. The companies involved are Cajamar (Spain), Hugin Expert (Denmark), Daimler (Germany) and Verdande Technology (Norway).
